Bovet & Ilgiz F. – Miniature enameling by tradition
Bovet pays extensive attention to decorative arts, in odrer to turn watches into aesthetical marvels.
Already at the beginning of the 19th century, Edouard Bovet took great care of selecting the best craftsmen. The watchmakers were located in the Val-de-Travers and the enamellers from Geneva. Back then, the city was very much renowned for enameling and miniature painting. As he sold four pocket watches to the Emperor of China, Edouard Bovet made also these highly refined decorative arts shine forth.
Today, Bovet perpetuates this tradition, still employing the same working methods and techniques, and bringing them to new heights. For instance, the diameter of wristwatches is smaller than the diameter of pocket watches, which requires even more miniaturization. Bovet has invited Ilgiz Fazulzyanov, a past master at enameling, to express his art on the dial of a watch. The Amadeo® Fleurier 39 “Water Lilies” Grand Feu Enamel pictured shows a stunning example of this collaboration.
