David Ferrer wins the Vienna title

David Ferrer, 7th in the world ATP Rankings, won over Steve Johnson in the Austrian Open final Sunday with a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.

“ It was a very tough match and difficult to beat Steve, who has a good serve and played aggressively throughout the match.

I waited for my opportunity and my experience counted. He also had his chance to win the tournament. Steve is playing very well, he’s beaten a lot of good players this week. It’s been an unbelievable season, winning five titles and it’s great to be playing well.

This has been one of my best years so far. Maybe 2012 and 2013 were better, but now I enjoy playing tennis more than back then. I am in a good position for ATP World Tour Finals in London, but I still have to qualify.

Certainly, today I took a big step.” said Ferrer.
